Remembering Dr. Penny Work

We are pleased to announce an event celebrating Dr. Penny Work, former Grymes Head of School, on October 15.

A dear friend and a proud Grizzly even after her retirement in 2018, Dr. Work passed away this summer. While we mourn her loss, there is much to celebrate in her joy-filled life and many contributions to Grymes over almost two decades.

Dr. Work provided visionary leadership to Grymes over her thirteen-year tenure. From hiring, curriculum changes, and program improvements to long-term strategic work with our board and the construction of Gardner Hall, she impacted the school in positive ways and left a remarkable legacy.

One of Dr. Work’s last gifts to Grymes was a narrative history that is part of our 75th anniversary commemorative coffee table book. We are excited to release this book on October 15 in addition to making a special campaign announcement.

For current students and recent alumni, we are also planning to celebrate Dr. Work at our Young Alumni Day on Tuesday, November 21.

We hope you will mark your calendars and plan to celebrate Dr. Work with us on Sunday, October 15, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Along with those who knew and worked with her, all current Grymes parents are invited to attend. Please RSVP to events@grymesschool.org.
