The Grymes Gala will be an evening of fine dining, great music, lively bidding, and more!

Grand Friends’ Day Music & Art Festival
MAY 5, 2023
Grandparents and their special “Grand Friends” are invited to spend the morning at school on the first Friday in May. The half day of school begins with a full school musical program and Grand friends are then invited to journey through their student’s day by visiting classrooms and browsing the student art show. Often a dedication is made on campus in honor of someone in the Grymes community and the event concludes with the 7th grade girls performing a traditional Maypole dance in front of the school. Students dismiss with their Grand friends and families at noon.

Field Day
MAY 26, 2023
This is a morning event that takes place on the Friday before Memorial Day. The Red and White teams participate in competitive athletic events by class throughout the morning. 7th grade class parents supply a lunch as a fundraiser for their eighth grade class gift. Many parents attend this event, which is highly anticipated by the students, and is a great opportunity to come together as a community for games and a picnic.

Awards Day & Graduation
JUNE 2, 2023
Every Lower School student is called forward and each teacher speaks about the student contributions while presenting awards. Lower School families may leave during a brief intermission and the ceremony resumes with academic and character prizes awarded to Upper School students.
Graduation traditionally takes place on the first Friday in June. All seventh grade students are required to attend. Graduates have a group photo session and then gather in the library and proceed down the hall to the gym. Teachers traditionally stand at the door to their classrooms to wish the graduates well, and then fall into line behind them. This touching ceremony generally lasts for about one hour.

Annual Christmas Party
DECEMBER 2, 2022
The Grymes Board of Trustees hosts an annual Christmas Party for the Grymes community to “jingle and mingle” and usher in the holiday season. Under the soft glow of lights, festive holiday decorations set the mood for holiday fun, while Board members serve as bartenders – with tip jars for Annual Fund donation.

Young Alumni Day
NOVEMBER 22, 2022
The Tuesday before Thanksgiving is traditionally Young Alumni Day at Grymes. Many of our graduates in high school will return for pizza lunch and roundtable discussion with current 7th and 8th grade students. Traditionally, an alumnus/a addresses the school at a special assembly before students are released for the holiday at the conclusion of the day.
