Strategic Plan

After 75 years of joyful learning, Grymes is building for the future.

Our current strategic plan, created in 2020, provides a bold vision, and we have made significant progress on all four major goals:

Program

Boldly prioritize, strengthen, and develop relationships and essential programs

The adoption of Singapore Math in kindergarten through 5th grade has transformed our math program, giving students stronger skills and deeper understanding of mathematics
through an innovative, problem-solving approach.

Our new structured literacy program has benefitted all students through its explicit, systematic approach and emphasis on all five pillars of effective reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension).

The enhancement of our science program with a more deliberate and creative use of STEM-based, hands-on activities has reinforced learning and provided students with more opportunities for real-life applications.

Marketing

Generate and communicate a unified brand message that clearly conveys the value of a Grymes Memorial School education for current and future stakeholders

A new brand platform has enabled the school to fine-tune its messaging and more effectively present the distinctive programs and characteristics that make a Grymes education unique.

A new website has brought that message to current and prospective families in a fresh, content-rich way.

More sophisticated online advertising is helping to communicate the uniqueness of Grymes to a broader audience.

Sustainability

Maintain and enhance the attributes that should make Grymes distinctive: academic excellence and a safe, supportive community; and advance the recognition of those attributes by raising the School’s profile

Despite two years of challenges brought on by the pandemic, Grymes has continued to
offer on-campus, in-person, joyful learning while keeping our school community safe.

The recent completion of a feasibility study and preparations for a capital campaign are
laying the groundwork for Grymes to launch its largest fundraising effort to date.

Planning for Grymes’s 75th anniversary includes many activities and celebrations that will bring families, alumni, and friends to campus in 2022-2023.

Buildings & Grounds

Improve and utilize facilities and grounds to enhance the student and community experience

Concept plans for a new Arts & Athletics Center and the renovation of the library,
science labs, Lower School classrooms, main entrance, administrative offices, and faculty room have provided an exciting blueprint for addressing pressing facility needs.

A newly updated campus master plan has given Grymes a vision for incorporating a new
gym into its physical structure and more effectively using its beautiful 42-acre campus.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

As part of its 75th anniversary, Grymes has launched The Campaign for Grymes: BUILDING FOR THE NEXT 75.

Funds are needed to improve campus facilities to become an even better Grymes for our current and future families.

Starting with a new Arts & Athletics Center, Grymes will be positioned to offer enhanced programs and a fuller experience for students while also serving as a stronger community partner in Orange.

We hope you will join us in this exciting endeavor!
